Commonplace
Socrates tells the jury that the Delphic prophetess told his friend Chaerephon there was “no man wiser” than Socrates. He calls this a riddle and tests it. After his search among the wise he says the god was “only using my name by way of illustration.” Has he solved the riddle, or changed it? Underline her answer, and bracket his reading of it.
At the close of the defence, The Apology of Socrates.
