The herdsman says, “I stand upon the perilous edge of speech,” and Oedipus answers, “And I of hearing, but I still must hear.” Earlier he told Jocasta, “I must probe this matter home.” What is he after by now, the killer of Laius or himself? Underline where he names it, from Jocasta’s plea to the herdsman’s answer.
